Questa Chartered were right on the money when it came to backing the athletic ambitions of its most recent sponsorship beneficiary Alex Garrod.

The 24-year-old son of Susanne Garrod - Questa's Lead Mortgage Consultant - has qualified to take part in the World Championships of the Ironman Triathlon . . . the globe's most iconic swim-cycle-run event.

After a year of daily, gruelling training, several marathons and triathlons and a super-strict diet regime, Alex will head to Hawaii to battle it out in the ultimate Ironman experience this October.

And cheering him on will be mum Sue, brother Matthew and dad Ian - who took part in the very same event exactly 23 years earlier - carrying a one-year-old Alex across the finishing line!

Says Alex: "This triathlon is all the more special because my dad took part in October 1994. He finished in 10-hour and 57 minutes so that is my time to beat!

"I won't pretend it has been easy training 16-20 hours a week on top of work," adds Alex, a Subsea Cable Engineer with ETA Ltd, "but it certainly wouldn't be possible without sponsorship from Questa Chartered. Their logo will be proudly emblazoned across my tri-suit."

Alex will swim 3.8km through the Pacific Ocean, cycle180km and then run 42.2km in temperatures of more than 81 degrees Fahrenheit.

Anthony Hoskisson, Managing Director & Senior Financial Planner at Questa Chartered, says: "We are very happy to see Alex's incredible hard work and determination has paid off and he will now follow in his father's footsteps and compete in the Ironman World Championships.

"Alex's mum Sue is the lead Mortgage Consultant at Questa and a good friend who goes back a long way. We were more than happy to support the family in this great event and hope it inspires other people to pick up the sport."
