Questa and Gadsden Coupe Join Forces to Share Inheritance Tax Guidance with Women’s Institute Members

Questa and Gadsden Coupe have teamed up to deliver a presentation on inheritance tax and financial planning to members of the Women’s Institute (WI).

Questa, a financial planning practice based in Blackpool, joined forces with Lytham-based Gadsden Coupe Solicitors to host th event designed to improve understanding of inheritance-related financial matters among Women’s Institute members.

More than 20 WI members enjoyed the session, titled Planning for your Inheritance, explored a range of topics including inheritance tax rules, gifting, wills, and planning for care costs.

Hosted by the Weeton Women’s Institute, which is part of the Lancashire Federation of Women’s Institutes (LFWI) organising its own monthly meetings and activities such as guest speakers, craft sessions, and cookery demonstrations.

Merrilyn Parker, President of Weeton Women’s institute, said: “We’re really grateful to Molly and Emma for coming to speak with us. It was a lot to take in, but it’s so important – and they made it easy to understand and ask questions.”

The presentation, covered the fundamentals of inheritance tax, including the current thresholds, the impact of frozen allowances until 2030, and upcoming legislative changes.

The talk also explained the role of life insurance, charitable giving, and trust arrangements in estate planning, alongside advice on pensions, children’s savings, and ownership structures for property.

Attendees were given guidance on property ownership models and how these affect care cost assessments and estate distribution. The session concluded with practical advice encouraging early action, open conversations within families, and seeking appropriate professional advice.

Gadsden Coupe offered insights on the legal aspects of estate planning, including the importance of writing a will and establishing powers of attorney.
