Questa colleagues take on 5,000 squat challenge for MND
Two members of the mortgage team at Questa Financial Planning are taking on 5,000 squats throughout November to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
Lily Hoskisson and her colleague Sue Garrod have signed up for the charity’s 5,000 Squats in November challenge. The MND challenge involves completing an average of around 167 squats every day for 30 days.
The challenge is part of a nationwide fundraising campaign supporting the MND Association. The MND Association provides care and support for people affected by the disease and funds research into potential treatments.
Lily Hoskisson said: “We know 5,000 squats is going to be tough, and there will probably be some aching knees along the way! But when you think about what people living with MND face every day, it puts our challenge into perspective. We wanted to do something practical to help, and hopefully raise some money and awareness at the same time.”
Around 5,000 adults are living with MND in the UK at any one time. The disease affects the nerves that control movement, causing muscles to weaken over time. It can affect a person’s ability to walk, talk, eat and breathe, and there is currently no cure.
The MND Association’s November challenge allows participants to complete their squats at their own pace, at home, at work or elsewhere. Money raised will help the charity provide support to people living with MND and their families, campaign for better care and fund research.
Sue Garrod added: “We’ve been inspired by Sir Kevin Sinfield. He keeps saying: ‘Keep banging the drum!’ So we’re encouraging our colleagues, friends, family and clients to support us. Every donation will help, however small. We’re also hoping a bit of encouragement will keep us going when our legs start complaining!”
Lily and Sue will be completing their challenge throughout November. Donations can be made through their MND Association fundraising page:
